Cover Letter

I am a student at University of Illinois in Chicago completing my graduate studies in Civil Engineering. My goal is to apply my knowledge to challenging projects as well as gaining more professional and team experience.

My work experiences have been quite rewarding so far.

During my most recent experience at Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) I Performed Civil Engineering tasks including: Project analysis, Calculation and Design of various hydraulics and hydrologic projects, Monitor and manage consultants, Drainage Investigations, Drainage Studies and Hydraulic Reports on roads, bridges, culverts and pump stations.

In Cook County Highway Department Design Division, I contributed to design, draft and calculation phases of series of structural and civil engineering projects such as bridges, culverts, chambers, retaining walls, soil borings and other structural projects in accordance with standards and Manuals.

In Dome Structural Engineering firm, I worked on drawing floor plans based on real measures, preparing cost estimates for building projects, inspection and web administration. I was also involved in STEP program (Students in Technology and Engineering) in Packer Engineering.  I have learned useful problem solving techniques as well as having exposure to real engineering challenges.

During my three years of experience as computer lab consultant at John C. Kohler academic computing center, I have acquired various software and hardware related skills.  Some software skill examples are Microsoft Office, Front Page, MicroStation and AutoCAD.  As for hardware skills, installs and maintenances for computers and printers were among regular tasks performed.Besides my regular jobs, I have also been busy with design and launch of my own online advertising web site since 2001.  Through which, I have interacted with various merchants and have gained valuable people skills.  I have also provided web-designing services for various institutions.

I would like to also talk a bit about my talents. I understand that in today’s growing technology, innovation ranks up as one of the key success factors right next to customer satisfaction.  I believe that I will be valuable in bringing creative solutions and innovative ideas.  Also having worked with my web site customers directly has given me an edge over understanding and keeping people satisfied.  I also work well in teams and manage my interactions with my co-workers professionally.
